Default Do you have a family game night?

Does your family get together for a family game night? What do you play? How often do you plan these?

We love game night. We found a Spelling Bee game at a garage sale a year ago and now the kids are learning while we play too!!

We don't have a specific day that we consider game night, but we've incorporated family games in to at least 3 nights during the week, we'll play at least one thing together sometimes more. Then we have marathons on the weekends... Especially the days we don't leave the house.

Currently Monopoly is a big hit. We play in 15 minute intervals and take breaks so we don't loose interest as this one can take a while. We set it up in a place where it won't get moved, and then come back to it through out the day. Veg has learned lots about buying and selling and making change, etc.

We also play Yahtzee, Life, Sorry, UNO, Scrabble, Battleship, Rummikub, Pictureka, Some trivia games, Cranium games, Dominoes, Mancala, and card games. Depending on the amount of time we have, and what everyone is feeling like.

The Hubby and Veg play Chess, but I've never gotten in to that one.

And I agree, kids can learn and have fun in the same time.. When Veg was younger we played a lot of those games that come in the little lunch box containers, Cooking Cookies, Wormy Apples etc. We also really liked Hi Ho Cheerio, and the younger kid cranium games, and the classics like Chutes and Ladders, etc.

Currently we have a Monopoly game going from last night, and a Battleship game being started, but we played Rudolph trivia game already this morning. We are doing Chores for 15 minutes, games for 15 minutes... on and off through the day.. make everyone get a break and no task seem so daunting.

No, we don't have a specific game night but we tend to play more games on rainy days and through the winter so I've been getting them out more recently.

For my younger, they enjoy:

uno and go fish
matching card games
sequence
cranium cariboo

my oldest loves monopoly and connect four

Like you guys, we don't have a particular night but we do like to play games. My son has just discovered Battleship. He also likes card games, Connect 4, and Trouble. I got him Apples to Apples and Connect 4x4 for Christmas.

We don't have a set game night either. My daughter has just recently gotten really into board games. It all started with my Candyland find at KARM for .99. She's been hooked on board games since then. She got quite a few for her birthday. Lately we've been playing Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, Candyland, Memory, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar Game. I'm planning on getting her more games for Christmas. And I'm really, really excited she is getting old enough to play board games. I absolutely love board games so it's nice that she does too so that I have someone to play with. : )
