No matter what part of town you are in, you need to take a drive down to the best unknown place to eat in Knoxville. The name of the restaurant is King Tut's on Martin Mill Pike in South Knoxville. Prepare yourself for an evening of the unexpected. This isn't just a dinner but a show too. King Tut is the definition of a "hole in the wall". It is located in a small little house. The eating area is the size of a living room approximately. The owner, Mo, was outback when we arrived helping with parking behind the building. He then walked us in where we met our friends. His menu is Middle Eastern Foods. I am told the Humus is to die for but I will admit to not trying it. The Egyptian Sampler was such a hit as an appetizer they ordered 3! We had chicken and steaks. Seriously, wonderful food. The treat here is Mo. He spent the first part of the evening teaching us tricks. Then, he challenged us to a game of chess in exchange for 10 free desserts. One of our group took him up on the offer before we saw the newspaper article on how he is famous for doing this and hasn't been beat. Really, the article said he has even stumped a UT professor who teaches Chess. The rest of the evening was kareoke, tricycles, and games. It was a Chuck E Cheese for adults. He even treated us to some Christmas carols that were truly unique.
You have to be open minded and willing to try something new to come here. But once you try it you will have your new favorite spot! Blessings to you Mo!

Ashlee.. does Mo take Visa or is he cash only? Is he open most nights? Do you have to have a reservation since the area is so small?

He does not take debit or credit cards but I believe he may accept checks. No, you do not need a reservation but you may want to check in advance. This is one of those places where he has a very loyal group of regulars!

I've been there for lunch many times. It is rarely crowded at lunch, but it booms on Saturday night!
