All these things can contribute..so can circumcision for boys. It all interupts the natural flow of things. Not say that moms and babies con't overcome these things, cause many do. But hearing your stories of how you felt broken, or like failures really hits home. It makes me very sad.

I Soooo Agree LP.. Without even getting in to the "common" birthing practices that cause Induction, Csection, and lower chance of Milk success at alarmingly higher rates... I don't know a single Hospital delivery Mom, That was given their baby immediately upon delivery with cord still attached or just after cutting to begin nursing. Not saying there aren't any, but I just don't know any.

For Moms that don't want to nurse, that is fine. But for those that do/did want to and couldn't because of the common birthing practices today, I feel so sad for them.

And back to the original post, I know many Mom's where the nurses ignored the "breast milk only" signs and gave them pacifiers or formula in the nursery because they wouldn't stop crying. So what will these nurses do when they get a hold of formula that "helps babies sleep" ... So disappointing.

Wow, all these stories have made me realize how truly blessed I have been with wonderful doctors, nurses, and an awesome LC. All the nurses at the hospital were very supportive, along with our pediatrician and nurses there. I never felt pressured to give my babies formula (that I remember anyway). Plus, I was allowed to hold and nurse my babies immediately after giving birth. Once they checked them out in my room, they wrapped them up and gave them to me. But it seems like my experiences are definitely not the norm.

I'm so sorry for those of you that have had so many roadblocks and not enough support. Breastfeeding is hard enough, even with help.

As for this formula, it just makes me sad to know that so many will believe the marketing and won't think twice about giving it to their babies.
