What do you moonlight as apart from being a mama?
Sleep deprived, over caffinated donut inhaling photographer.
What do you love to do with your kid(s)?
I love the great outdoors and going on new adventures with the kids! Our latest adventure was picking blueberries at the berry patch!
What makes you happy?
Date night with my husband. Belly Laughs. Having fun with new clients on a shoot. Eating Pizza.
What’s your favorite family past-time?
We have 2! One includes our weekly family outing for pizza! The other is hiking. We really love anything that we get to do together as a family.
How much time do you spend working from home each week?
It varies…some weeks are completely crazy and I work anywhere from 25-40 hours and others are slow and I get to enjoy a 5- 10 hour work week.
How did you come up with your business concept or start your business?
I realized that it was time to do something that I really loved. I bought a camera and started shooting anything and everything. I am really very fortunate that people pay me to do something that I love so much!
What’s your number 1 tip for combining work and family lives?
Having an awesome husband! He walks in the door from work and takes over, so that my workday can begin.
What’s your one trick that you feel has helped to make you successful?
Realizing that everyone and everything is beautiful. It is my job to make everything look as beautiful as it can possibly look.
In what ways do you use the internet or technology to further your business?
I have a blog that I try to update a few times a week: www.5ringsphoto.com. That is how people see my work and know what I am up to!
Lots of moms dream of working for themselves any warnings/tips?
Always make sure you take time for yourself. I have a fantastic job that is ridiculously fun but at the end of the day it is still work and it is hard work…so is being a mother. Sometimes I have to remember to take a step back and do something for myself that does not involve my children, my husband my camera.

We hired Jessi to take photos of our newborn, Ruby Grace a few months ago. The experience and the resulting photos were outstanding. Jessi is a joy to work with and I highly recommend her to anyone who wishes to capture the magic of a special event or simply a family fun day at the park.
