We're discussing ways to achieve natural childbirth at our next meeting on Tuesday evening, 7pm @ Rita's on Market Square. Please RSVP to knoxbirthnetwork@gmail.com.

PHILOSOPHY

  • Birth is a normal, healthy process, not an illness or disease.

  • Empowering births can take place in birth centers, hospitals and homes.

  • Women are entitled to complete and accurate information on their full range of options for pregnancy, birth, post-partum and breastfeeding.

  • Women have a right to make health care decisions for themselves and their babies. That right includes Informed Consent as well as Informed Refusal.

Description:

Would you like to have a place where your child can practice her Spanish with other children?  Would you like to have a place where your child can learn about hispanic cultures and traditions.  Come to Holita!

Holita is a branch of HoLa Hora Latina created especially for kids who are being raised speaking English and Spanish at the same time.  The group meets monthly at area libraries, parks, homes, and other locations.  Meetings are conducted on Saturday mornings, generally between 10:00am and 12:00pm.  Member parents take turns hosting get togethers.  At each get together children can take part in various age appropriate activities focused on a specific theme.  These activities are designed to reinforce their Spanish language skills and to celebrate the various hispanic cultures of the member families.  Snacks are usually included in the meeting.  Events are free, but families are encouraged to get an annual "Family Membership" ($25.00) in HoLa.

Please visit http://www.holaknoxville.org/ for more information about our group and to purchase a membership.

For more information please contact Christina Betanzos Pint at pinterosa@comcast.net.

Description:

Starting this group to help bring all moms of specail needs kids together. We need all the support and encouragement we can get. It should start with each other. We already have some things in common with our kids of specail needs. Everyone doesn't understand them nor have the patience that we ourslves do. There are no reading programs to help our kids during the school year nor during the summer. The friends of Literacy here in Knoxville doesn't help until you reach the age of 18. Why should they have to wait until then to get the help? I want to make this a Strong group of parents who want the reading help for their kids that they deserve. I want to start a program to help special need kids get a better start while they are still under 18. I want to tutor them, encourage them, love them, and take a stand against MEDS THAT harm our kids and delay their learning.  Did you know that Seroquel has been linked to diabetes in kids....Lets come together and help our kids SUCEED! I am very passionate about helping not only my son but all who need the help!
